Welcome to the road blog!

On 13th June 2012, solo rider Chris Armishaw will set out on his bike from Oceanside, California, as part of the Race Across America. Chris will aim to cycle over 3,000 miles to Annapolis, Maryland, in just 10 days. He will be cycling to raise awareness and money for the charity Action Medical Research. This blog will chart this epic journey, from the point-of-view of both Chris and his road crew.

Increasing media interest in the event: 3 weeks to go!

Last Saturday, Chris Armishaw (henceforth known as 'the Rider'!) and two of us crew members Catherine H and Chris M) set up camp for the morning at a supermarket in Colchester. We were there to meet people, talk to them about the challenge Chris and the team are taking on, and also to raise money and awareness for Action Medical Research. Whilst we were there, we were interviewed by a reporter from a local newspaper, and you can see his article here:

Coincidentally, also at the store on the same day was last year's Apprentice winner, Tom Pellereau. By strange coincidence, he knows quite a bit about the Race Across America, since a friend of his has previously been part of a crew for the event.

The day was a really good opportunity to chat to people about what we're going to be doing. Some people say Chris is mad; some people say we're very lucky to have the opportunity to take part in such a fantastic event. There is probably some truth in both points of view!

Chris will set off from Oceanside, California in exactly 3 weeks. More to come soon about the final stages of our preparation.

Bye for now, CH.
